To keep the mind active throughout the life time requires lots of effort. What we generally refer to memory is actually many different processes occur in the brain. There are two types of memory, one is referred as short term and other is long term memory.

There are many things that you can do to improve your memory. One of these things is to regularly and constantly play puzzle games. These puzzle games may seem trivial but they serve as exercises for your brain. They require your mind to function and work harder than it usually does.

As we get older it starts to fail, we are all human after all. But there are many things you can do to keep this from happening. Number one is to eat right. Eating healthy and making sure you get the vitamins and minerals you need to sustain yourself is important. Number two, drink a lot of water.

A positive attitude is that to improve your memory and brain functioning ability. A negative and pessimistic outlook will only make your efforts less successful. This is just a well-known fact of life.

The key to building a memory power that lasts is to be able to associate a new fact with an old one. Our memories can be kept active and working. Imagine being at a meeting and you are the only person who can recite the company's mission statement, imagine what a boost that'll be.

You need to be able to focus well and put your full attention on what you are learning. If you easily get distracted by things around you, it will take you longer to memorize and remember things. Find a quiet place so you can concentrate on what you are reading, learning, or observing.

Get Some Sleep: If you are a student or a worker on a deadline, a 20 minute power nap may be enough to boost your performance drastically. Sleep not only allows you to think more clearly, but it is crucial to memory development.

There are many exercises you can use to improve brain function and sharpen memory. To develop a better memory, start working the abilities you've got, but don't use. You can strengthen your memory by changing your thinking and your habits.

Another great way to keep working memory sharp is by sharing the information just stored. Taking the same scenario as stated before, had the person learning the new name immediately introduced a spouse or friend to April using April's name in the introduction would increase the working memory recall improving ones memory overall.

Believe it or not, maintaining a strong memory and powerful brain is a lot of fun and addicting. This is because the exercise equipment needed to strengthen your brain is simply any activity that engages your brain and forces it to solve a problem.

Walking can also help to manage your stress. It helps to relieve your mind of the pressure that you're dealing with. If you walk at least 30 minutes a day, you will be able to be more focused and increase the sharpness of your memory.

One effective way to do this is to learn a new word from the dictionary everyday and try to use it in your daily conversation or writing. Or you could keep an encyclopedia by your bedside and learn a new bit of information before you sleep.

Think of your brain as being just like your heart. Take care of it, use it, and give it a workout. You might even get praised for having a razor sharp memory!
